2005 Harry Potter and the
Goblet of Fire

A new
range of official legal tender coins have been issued based on “Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” the fourth instalment in J.K. Rowling’s
worldwide literary phenomenon. Each coin commemorates a scene interpreted
by artist Mary GrandPré, illustrator of the U.S. editions of the Harry
Potter novels, who was commissioned to create pastel artwork exclusive to
Harry Potter licensed products. The coins depict exciting moments from
the fourth instalment of the Harry Potter series. Three of the coins
capture the different Tri-wizard Tournament tasks, in which Harry is
competing against older and more experienced students from Hogwarts and
two rival European wizardry schools. The first coin depicts the first
task where Harry must evade a Hungarian Horntail dragon. The second coin
portrays the second task where Harry must make a daring rescue at the
bottom of the school’s lake. The third coin depicts the third task maze
where Harry is pitted against the other Tri-wizard Tournament champions to
reach the Tri-wizard Cup. The fourth coin features an image of Harry
discovering the mysterious Pensieve in Dumbledore’s office.
